4Mths

This little spunk rat is four months old. He had his 'jabs' today and his growth in every aspect is super. Super cuddly that is!

He is a little treasure. Tonight when he fell asleep after a feed, I noticed his cute pudgy little hand was wrapped around my thumb - awwww!

Love you little man!

Yum

The days seem to be slipping by so quickly. My regular schedule has been changed a little in the past week, so I am back to forgetting what day it currently is. Eck.

On Tuesday at Caleb's therapy at the Royal Children's Hospital, Mel and Tim (the professionals in this story) took us to the other end of the building to a wee kitchen. Caleb made gingerbread cookies, following some instructions and ticking them off as they went. He mixed, he rolled the dough, he stamped the shapes all while keeping an eye out the window looking at the plethora of planes, trains, buses, cars, motorbikes and trucks - life couldn't get much better surely?

Of course in the middle of making all this (and it smelled deeee-vine!) Griffy had to pipe up and make himself heard . . . yep, that nasty lower end. After changing his entire outfit we came back down the hall smelling the gingerbread cooking.

The decorating was fun! Caleb squeezed the mickey out of the tubes of icing to decorate all the shapes. Mel and Tim decorated as well - I think they enjoyed the experience as much as Caleb. Supposedly Tim had been excited since the day before! Therapy has a wide range of activities!

Caleb got to take his prize cookies home. On a big plate. That sat on the floor next to him in the car. The big plate didn't actually have any grip for corners or braking. They flipped and jumped. Caleb giggled. I have been finding icing throughout the car since Tuesday. But the freshly baked gingerbread cookies rocked!

Tomorrow, after little miss Stubborn goes to kindy, Griffy and I head to little school for a meet and greet for the parents, teachers and kiddies. Caleb is pretty stocked that we are going in, no doubt all the kids will be psycho from showing off. Should be a big gathering - five teachers and assistants plus the therapists who come and go, the 14 students (gasp!) and parents. That is a huge preschool/pre-prep class with all different kids this year. Caleb's friends have moved on to Prep as they were a smidge older. These days he is making some new friends and having a great time. Will be nice to meet them all.

My aim is to get up early, put on the washing and bake an apple and raspberry bread ready to share at little school. It takes one hour to bake and the show starts at 9am . . . wish me luck!

Paperwork

My to-do list (as usual) is taking a long time to be 'ticked off'. One item on the list is 'update blog' but it is not at the top so I don't seem to get down to it much. Not that I don't want to, just that I need to do paperwork for Little School and other bits and pieces and it all takes time that my kids don't want me to waste time on.

You see, I am wanted out the back to push swings, inside to make lunch/dinner, at the TV to put on Dora the Explorer, at the change table to change some *nasty* nappies (did I mention that Griffy shat on me again this evening - and the little devil sat there smiling at me knowing what he had done!), cuddling Caleb cause he is tired and cranky after Little School, cuddling Zali cause she tripped on the blowup mattress while playing with her pillow when she should have been going to sleep, and cuddling Griffy cause he is gorgeous and cuddly and smiley and I could eat him up . . .

. . . he will, soon enough, be like the other ratbags so I need to savour this precious time.

Anyway, here are my ratbags.

Back to Little School

Another year of little school started today for Caleb. He attends Wednesday through to Friday and has a bigger class this year. His three friends from 2008 have moved onto Prep so it is a whole new adventure this year.

Caleb picked his new backpack - another edition of Thomas with his lunchbox attached. Don't you love new things for a new year!?!

My little spunk muffin was so excited waiting for the bus. Kept asking if it was here yet, even though he was standing on the driveway with a clear view! It pulled up outside our house just before 8am and he was in his seat faster than I could say 'have a good day, I love you!'

I think he will be a very tired little boy this afternoon after all the excitement.

A Preppie

Yesterday my nephew Campbell started his formal education. He was looking forward to starting Prep and here he shows off his new school uniform. Little brother Finn looks pretty happy also, hmmm, maybe cause he is getting rid of big brother five days a week! Grandma looked at the photo and sighed. 'I remember when he was just a little baby . . . '

Good luck young man, enjoy your first school year and keep your hat on!

parks

Have had a few park play dates recently. Checked out an upgrade to a park in Carindale with Kerry, Riley and Chloe. Very busy and quite warm. Nice park though.

Met up with Caleb's friend from little school and his family at a park in the Mt Gravatt area. Lachlan (green shirt) and his brother played happily in a great shaded park - fantastic in the morning but I reckon the afternoon sun might be a killer. Us four parents talked and played.

Zali monitored the boys from a distance and climbed over mounds and had fun being pushed on the swings with Daddy.

Enjoy your Australia Day weekend. Gee it is good to be an Australian!

JJ

Had a fantastic morning catching up with my sweet friend Jill. She is visiting for a week or so and we had breakky and talked and talked and talked. She is *such* a nice person, she understands me and is understanding, we lift each other at differing times of need, we laugh together. Jill - I am truly grateful to have you in my life, you are a wonderful woman.

3Mth

My precious little poppet is three months old. Cripes. He is such a sweet little boy, very smiley and a good cuddler. He very happily sat in his pram checking out things at Carindale this morning before falling asleep while the rest of us had morning tea. His favourite time of the day is no-boots/no-nappy time - he is free as a bird! (other than cuddles with his Mummy of course!). I totally love him!

Scrapes

Today was pretty nuts. The husband had to be at work before 6.30am to drive out of town for work - and didn't get back until 9ishpm! Grandma left for work at 6.30am. First thing on my mind when I was woken by a little boy at 5.03am asking me when I was going to be going downstairs . . . cup of tea. Then . . . do one thing at a time.

With the three kids dressed and fed and slept (Griffy!) we got to kindy at a reasonable time to drop Z off. The boys and I went to Spotlight to purchase some fun crafty things for craft adventures on a no-kindy day. While getting out the pram Caleb was running up and down the sloping path . . . and . . . wait for it . . . you can guess, can't you! . . . he came a guttser and skinned, bruised and hurt both knees, an elbow and his pride.

Mid-way through our *short* shopping experience Caleb wanted to go to the toilet. I asked a *friendly* staff member to keep my stuff at the counter until I came back - sheesh lady, sorry for interrupting your day! Trying to exit the toilet, pulling on a heavy door, Caleb jammed his fingers when said heavy door was shutting cause it was . . . too heavy. Oh lord. Now it was 'pick which part of Caleb hasn't been hurt yet'.

Anyhoo, we all had a lovely sleep in the air-con after watching Dora, and Mummy getting a cappuccino (to inject! oops, think don't say think don't say!).

Right now all my precious little poppets are sound asleep. I have just finished my dinner and have come in here to pretend I have some spare time before my smallest little poppet wakes for his late night snack.

Have a rockin Thursday!

Long Day

Yesterday was a long day at hospital with Caleb. Another round of botox with the addition of injections in his right arm - his thumb and between his elbow and wrist. He behaved really well and 'performed' for all the therapists and doctors as they poked and played and prodded and twisted and felt and played and videotaped and talked and played. We waited for the different appointments, waited to get into the day procedure ward for our bed, waited for our slot on the injecting list and waited for the hour afterwards (for food, drink and observations).

Did I mention we all had to fast - can't eat in front of Caleb when he is hungry and cannot satisfy his hungry little belly. Straight into the parents lounge for cup of tea and some tucker when he was in theatre - need some strength before I pass out.

On the way home we picked up Zali who was tired (stroppy) as her kindy week ended. Griffy was tired due to his little naps (cause he kept getting disturbed from loud noises everywhere). He also pooed all day. I ran out of nappies. Thankfully the last nasty-filled nappy happened just before some friends headed home - we had ward beds next to each other - thanks Angie for giving us a nappy! He pooed in this borrowed-and-large nappy in the car and had another change as soon as we walked in the door. Honestly.

Everyone was knackered. I fell asleep watching TV.

The best part about being woken at 4.40am this morning (need to look for positives!!), it was actually cool. Love the cool, don't love the heat.

Enjoy your weekend!
