Security?

Caleb and I just walked in to the study. There is a baby blanket laying over his keyboard. I figure he isn't concerned about dust, so . . .

Caleb, why is there a blanket over your computer?

So Zali can't see it and she won't touch any of my buttons.

(quiet snigger from Mummy here).

Daddy walks in. I share the story with him and we both have a little snigger.

Daddy says 'is that so Zali won't touch your computer, mate?'

Yep.

Do you think she is silly, Caleb?

Yep.

Lovely Cuddles

What a week. First half of the week I was burning the candle at both ends with early starts and late finishes. The Husband was away for work and The Mother had training at work until 8.30pm. I was pretty pooped by the end of each day - got some good routines going, had to get my little soldiers into a pattern.
The second half of the week just flew by with bad bad headaches and a slight infection to suffer through. Griffy has been crook and is left currently with a runny nose. Caleb has picked up a cough and a bit of a runny nose. Zali, well, at the moment she seems generally healthy.

Today we had some visitors. One of them looks like this:

Sheree, David, Campbell, Finn and Bubby Nicholas spent the day. Was lovely to see them all. Was very lovely to have some little Bubby Nicholas cuddles. A rainy day isn't the most appropriate day to have a house full of kids!

annual play day

Today was my Husband's works' Annual Family Day. The staff get together with their families for a fun day. Food, drinks, rides and face painting . . .

My little butterfly

Spiderman dude

And this little treasure took a nap!

Their favourite was the jumpy castle. They had this one for the smaller kids with blow up horses to ride/bounce.

Beautiful day here in the gorgeous Brisbane sunshine.

Pop

If we were meant to pop out of bed, we'd all sleep in toasters.

Hmmm. I thought this was funny.

6

Honestly. Who's hair-brain idea was it to try and get a 'good' photo? Six kids? Cripes, it is hard enough to get one to play nice for the camera. This is the six cousins, as at today. Bunch of raggamuffins!

Different

Three seconds spare - am heading towards the kettle actually - and I wanted a quick reminder of what my little Griffy looked like when he was born. Initial baby photos always show the pudgy squashed face that occurs at birth. The difference a few days later when things settle down is quite remarkable. I am wondering what Nicholas looks like now without the pudge.

Stumbled upon this one from October 2008 and I was really *seeing* how each child looks different. I saw the eyes. My two on the left have blue eyes. Sheree's two on the right have dark brown eyes. Quite a contrast. I don't think I have really noticed this before.

My little Griffy was 4 days old. Sniff. Seems like a life time ago.

Zipped by ...

The last day of May - can you believe it? It has zipped by. Tomorrow is June. Tomorrow is Winter. It really doesn't seem like Christmas was that long ago? My baby is 7.5 months and getting *more* teeth. Wasn't he only just born? Sigh. Sometimes it is hard to keep up.
This little pink-gemmed beauty is next on my 'wish list' for my Pandora bracelet. Bit of pink, bit of bling, that is the plan. I visit the charms occasionally online to pick out my favourites. Sometimes my favourites' list becomes a little long and I need to cull.

Hope your May has been an enjoyable one!

What a Cracker!

The Crackerjack Carnival is on this weekend, Friday evening through to Sunday. We like Saturday morning first thing. While the kids aren't tired. While there isn't lines. While everything is fresh. Kids under 12 are free and us big kids are $7 each.

After an extended stay in the 'entry tent' to view the motorised trains (they *so* rock!), our first stop was the ponies. I remember when I was little and *loving* the pony rides. Back in the day.

We smiled at the camels, thought it a bit pricey to pat the animals in the little farm and moved up to view the sheep, cute baby goats, alpacas and chickens at the Shearing Display. Caleb was overstimulated and walking in a daze, wanting to try everything and couldn't stop talking - he was busting with excitement!

There were two areas of kiddie-size rides. First up we rode the train . . . toot toot!

Followed by the chairlift swing thing.

Walking up the path of stuffed-animals-and-other-junk-prize games we stopped to catch some ducks. Caleb's duck won him a green car and Zali's won a bubble blowing thing. They were happy.

At the second kiddie-size ride area it was the multi-vehicle-go-round that first attracted attention.

Our little 4WD rev-head chick.

Zali wanted to ride the boats while Caleb picked the Mickey Mouse jumping castle. After I watched Zali a bit, I helped Caleb take off his shoes. Oops, Zali is crying. I dash over (big headed me thinks she has misplaced me - don't worry I am here) to discover she had tried to touch the water the boats were floating on and scratched/grazed her forearm (hurt herself, got a fright, all a bit too much) and was crying out 'Marrrrrrrrmmmmmmy', in between sobs, to come rescue her.

A big cuddle and some reassurance and all was ok. Except the deadhead bloke 'watching' the rides saying 'it's hard for me to watch two rides'. Good on you.

Caleb had a jump and I got Zali on the jumpy castle ('on the house') to help her get herself back to happy. Not sure how long the girls' counter was for but their jumping time was over in a flash.

After a 'misplaced sock' incident we moved down to some shaded tables and chairs for some food (and some coffee!). The Husband helped make/pack some food for our outing and we bought a bit of fresh food too - can't go to a carnival and not have a dagwood dog.

As we sat and ate, Griffy could get out of the pram and play and have a snack of grass. There was a guy playing the guitar and singing - Zali was dancing a smidge, enjoying his smooth tunes. After a feed Caleb started showing us his moves too - such a talented family!

The fun part was having our sweets . . . Dippin' Dots (tiny balls of ice cream). Zali got a rainbow sorbet type, Caleb picked the bubblegum flavour (eww) and I picked the Snickers with a small mix of mint chocolate to share with Grandma. Lucky for me she only wanted a small bit - yummy!

Just as we finished enjoying those tiny balls of scrummy, a puppet show was starting a few metres away. We watched a little of the puppet-action and then decided to move as we were all getting tired. The last two (ride) tickets for Caleb and Zali were used on the chairlift swing thing - for some reason Zali picked the only chair that was facing backwards?

Heading out the Police gave the kids a stamp on their hand and some colouring-in stuff. We had a final stop at the motorised train setup while Grandma located a balloon each for the kids. Trudged to the car and headed home. Sleeps all round except for me (sigh).

It is my turn to sleep now. Night!

Introducing . . .

Nicholas Oliver Chandler Adam

My new nephew was born Thursday 28 May 2009 at 2.30pm in Toowoomba. He is 54cm long and weighed 7lb 15oz 3620gms. Sheree and David are very happy, healthy and loving their new little cuddler. This guy has two big brothers to copy, chase, learn from, squabble with and love.

A baby is a little miracle and a beautiful way to start life.

D for . . .

D is for Distraction. That is what happens when I attempt to give Griff some food, it is hard enough to get some tucker down his gob but as soon as there is movement from anything . . . he is being a giraffe neck to check things out. Movement like: trees, the dogs, Grandma turns the kettle on, a big brother walking past, a big sister chatting away . . . . Anything.

Here is the little champ in his new high chair.

Same height enables Griffy to show how he cares . . . awwwwww

This little girl didn't want a photo . . . she wanted a photo of her pony.

When she came downstairs after her bath holding her 'Runny Babbit' (her pink bunny), she came in to the kitchen to ask me some things. 'Yes, my little angel' I replied when she called my name. She chats away . . .

When she next exited the kitchen, she bent down to pick up Runny Babbit and said 'c'mon my little angel. ahhh my little angel' to the bunny. Twas very cute.
