Scrapes

Today was pretty nuts. The husband had to be at work before 6.30am to drive out of town for work - and didn't get back until 9ishpm! Grandma left for work at 6.30am. First thing on my mind when I was woken by a little boy at 5.03am asking me when I was going to be going downstairs . . . cup of tea. Then . . . do one thing at a time.

With the three kids dressed and fed and slept (Griffy!) we got to kindy at a reasonable time to drop Z off. The boys and I went to Spotlight to purchase some fun crafty things for craft adventures on a no-kindy day. While getting out the pram Caleb was running up and down the sloping path . . . and . . . wait for it . . . you can guess, can't you! . . . he came a guttser and skinned, bruised and hurt both knees, an elbow and his pride.

Mid-way through our *short* shopping experience Caleb wanted to go to the toilet. I asked a *friendly* staff member to keep my stuff at the counter until I came back - sheesh lady, sorry for interrupting your day! Trying to exit the toilet, pulling on a heavy door, Caleb jammed his fingers when said heavy door was shutting cause it was . . . too heavy. Oh lord. Now it was 'pick which part of Caleb hasn't been hurt yet'.

Anyhoo, we all had a lovely sleep in the air-con after watching Dora, and Mummy getting a cappuccino (to inject! oops, think don't say think don't say!).

Right now all my precious little poppets are sound asleep. I have just finished my dinner and have come in here to pretend I have some spare time before my smallest little poppet wakes for his late night snack.

Have a rockin Thursday!

Long Day

Yesterday was a long day at hospital with Caleb. Another round of botox with the addition of injections in his right arm - his thumb and between his elbow and wrist. He behaved really well and 'performed' for all the therapists and doctors as they poked and played and prodded and twisted and felt and played and videotaped and talked and played. We waited for the different appointments, waited to get into the day procedure ward for our bed, waited for our slot on the injecting list and waited for the hour afterwards (for food, drink and observations).

Did I mention we all had to fast - can't eat in front of Caleb when he is hungry and cannot satisfy his hungry little belly. Straight into the parents lounge for cup of tea and some tucker when he was in theatre - need some strength before I pass out.

On the way home we picked up Zali who was tired (stroppy) as her kindy week ended. Griffy was tired due to his little naps (cause he kept getting disturbed from loud noises everywhere). He also pooed all day. I ran out of nappies. Thankfully the last nasty-filled nappy happened just before some friends headed home - we had ward beds next to each other - thanks Angie for giving us a nappy! He pooed in this borrowed-and-large nappy in the car and had another change as soon as we walked in the door. Honestly.

Everyone was knackered. I fell asleep watching TV.

The best part about being woken at 4.40am this morning (need to look for positives!!), it was actually cool. Love the cool, don't love the heat.

Enjoy your weekend!

Wagon

Those so called 'much-loved' ratbags drove me nuts today. After having a lot of attention and being spoiled at Nan & Pop's place, the ratbags had me fuming a number of times today. They are tired, they want attention and cuddles and reassurance, they want to do as they please, they don't want to wait for Bubby Biff to settle before informing me of their demands. On. The. Edge.

On her Fallen Off The Wagon show today, Oprah said things went pear-shaped when her life didn't have balance. I hear you Oprah, again I say, through my teeth . . . . On. The. Edge.

Currently . .

my three (very much loved) ratbags look like this! it is a wonder any of them are looking at the camera, you see, dora the explorer was on tv. hmpf, priorities!

Perception

A bright and cheery good morning on this marvellous January morning. January 2009 - can you believe it? Crikey I hope this year doesn't go as fast as 2008, that was a ride and a half.

On Wednesday I was at the Carindale Shopping Centre. A few of my observations . . .

Waiting in the doctor's rooms a little girl, with an older lady (perhaps Grandma or equivalent), had a small digital camera. She was having fun playing with it. She asked numerous times for the lady to take photos of her, she just loved seeing herself on the little LCD screen. The little girl took photos of the lady and when she showed her work the lady said 'oh no, delete that, it is too close, it is awful'. It didn't matter what the photo of the little girl looked like, she loved seeing herself. I don't think it would have mattered what the photo of the lady was like, she would not have liked it. Which led to my thinking . . . our younger selves have innocent ideas and only fun in their hearts. We get older, we get critical, we get unhappy with what we see. That was quite a light bulb moment. Shame our perception of ourselves has to change into the negative. I think I will work on that this year. Do you have any personal goals for 2009?

Walking towards the car I went past another couple heading in. She was a regular lass. He was a large, cuddly, large man. Just in case we didn't realise this fact, he kindly helped out with his shirt ... saying ... Big Dude. I had to laugh.

I think that is something else I could work on this year, I need to laugh more.

Merry and Happy

Righto, while I have two hands (the poop machine has lived up to his name and is off with Daddy for a new round of frilly knickers) I have been meaning to pop in to say . . .

Merry Christmas
and a
Happy New Year
to you and your loved ones!

Christmas day seemed to come so fast and be over fast too! If you are kicking up your heels for NYE have a rippa and enjoy some festive bubbly for me. Caleb and Zali will be at Nan & Pop's place and I will no doubt be in bed by 8.30pm (heck, might push it and stay up till 9pm!). Maybe Griff will decide to see in the new year with a midnight celebratory milkshake.

Erm ...

While feeding Griffy in the lounge, the other side of the house was quiet and the 'big 2' were quiet. Obviously up to something.

Getting closer I heard the toilet flush. I hope you are not playing in the toilet, I said.

Noo Muuumm! was the reply.

I did a pooey, said Caleb.

Erm, I need to clean your bottom, said I.

No, Zali did it! he says

Gulp.

Reward

Zali is at kindy today, so it has been a little quieter and I have been able to have a decent sleep. Caleb, Griff and I slept in my room with the air-con and wasted a good 2 or so hours. Nice!

Before Griff wakes up, he still making use of the empty bed and cool room, Caleb and I are going to make some 'reward charts'. One for Caleb and one for Zali. When they are together, obviously this is a lot of the time, they been bouncing off each other and being naughty and not listening and pushing their boundaries. So. Will try a reward chart system that moves with good and not so good behaviour and see where the tally ends up at the end of the day.

Better get started before I hear a small cuddly bloke calling for his Mummy (or more probably her 'equipment'!).

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Smiling Pooper

This is from this morning at the playgroup Christmas party. Heading home he was happy and smiling so I whipped out the camera, it is shaded reddish cause of the red pram and the sun hitting it - he isn't actually a red baby!

Good Bet

Yep, if you would have put a good size wager on the likelihood of Griffy doing a poo when we went out yesterday morning, you would have gone home a rich and happy winner!

Why? Cause we had to dash out quick and I grabbed the wrong bag - the one with *no* Griff nappies and *no* wipes. We were only out for a few minutes . . .

That few minutes changed as communication channels are poor at Grandma's work and they had changed the venue for the training she was attending. Dropped her off (late) and we pulled up under a nice shady tree so Griff could have the second course of his milky breakfast. Happily drinking his liquid gold he opened up his rear end . . . twice . . . the rumble in the jungle was impressive.

Yep. Mostly wind, for sure . . . . pleeeease!

It was a poo-through. Through his nappy, all up his back and touching the front top nappy as well. Soaked through his 'onesie'. How did I find out this? Well, when I picked him up to burp and my hand hit something wet was about the same time as when I looked down at *my* shorts to see huge patches of poo! EW! It was everywhere!

I said 'bugger bugger bugger'. Caleb replies 'why you say bugger Mummy?' 'Griffy did a big poo' and then I started laughing, it was all I could do. Honestly, it was bound to happen at this particular point in unpreparedness.

Ended up cleaning him up with a white cloth nappy and *thankfully* there was a nappy in the car. Zali's nappy. It was tickling his armpits and the sides wrapped a fair way around him, but it did do the job. I put on a tighter fitting onesie to help hold the sucker tight in case of any further explosions.

We were supposed to be going to check the post box next, however our route was via home to change my shorts. Honestly.
